Service Projects and Friendship Sewing
Mark your calendars for the fun and friendship of sewing for donation to good causes. If you have a project that needs a large table for basting, you want some feedback on a project, or you just like the idea of sewing and visiting with fun people please join us. We have irons, cutting boards and many large tables.
2024-25 Service Sewing
When: Meetings are on the Third Wednesday of Each Month from 9:30 to 4:00 -- September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18, January 15, February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18
Where: Immanuel Lutheran Church 1850 Chestnut Ave, Glenview, IL 60025 Enter on church (west) side of the building, we are in basement (down about 6 steps, elevator available)
What: If you are looking to spend time quilting with interesting people and helping some neighbors join us the third Wednesday of each month.
Please bring machine and basic sewing supplies and lunch if you want to stay all day. .
Last year we made beautiful baby quilts and assorted fidget projects for distribution. Thirty quilts were completed in three months and went to the young mothers at Simpson Academy in December. We have kept going and have this December’s quilts ready for the moms.
Our new project this year are throws to be delivered with December food pantry deliveries to a senior resident center.
We would love to have you join us making throws at a Wednesday gathering or on your own time at home. We have precut strips, yardage, and batting available.
We continue to look for other organizations that could use bed size quilts, if you have connections please ask them. Here are the details:
Ongoing projects: Throws- approximately 56” x 70” and Baby quilts Quilts of your choice
URGENT NEED: Yardage for backing. Most of our fabric is smaller donated pieces.
